CNI Editor reports

Property advisor, Savills Ireland, will pedal 2,268km – the equivalent of cycling from Dublin to Lapland – on stationary bikes outside the front of their Dublin office on Molesworth Street, to raise much-needed funds for Solas Project and The Friends of St Luke’s Cancer Care.

The fundraising initiative will take place on Thursday 24 November from 7am until the distance is reached.

A group of volunteers from Savills will be present on Molesworth Street throughout the day to collect – and encourage – donations from passers-by on one of Dublin’s busiest thoroughfares for politicians, journalists, office workers and shoppers.

In a push to create awareness and profile for this important fundraising initiative, Savills has issued an open-invitation to any members of Dáil Éireann to take part on their way to or from Leinster House, which is in close proximity to Savills HQ on Molesworth Street.

Mark Reynolds, Managing Director, Savills Ireland said: “2,268kms in one day will be a challenge, but we’re confident that we can achieve it. Christmas can be a tough time for people, especially the children that Solas Project work with and the patients that are helped by Friends of St. Luke’s. These charities are also important to our colleagues who nominated them as our charity partners for 2022, so we want to raise as much money as possible.”

Amy Carey, CEO, Solas Project added: “We are delighted to have the support of Savills in our work supporting children and young people here in Dublin’s inner city. Events like these are what enable us to continue to provide vital supports to ensure all young people, despite the barriers they may face, can truly know their self-worth and take full advantage of their potential” – Amy Carey, CEO, Solas Project.”

A spokesperson for the The Friends of St Luke’s said: “The Friends of St Luke’s are so grateful to be beneficiaries of the Savills Cycle to Lapland this year. All donations from this fundraising event will enable The Friends to continue to transform Cancer Care at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network Dublin and will benefit our patients in many ways during a difficult time.”
