Minister English together with several local TDs and Councillors were welcomed to two new build housing developments in Navan this week by Tuath Housing Chairman, Mr. Eamon Gavigan.

First stop was Gainsfield, Commons Road where Tuath, in partnership with Meath County Council are acquiring a total of 60 new homes which comprise a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom properties. The developer Solidscape Limited, started on site in June 2018 after signing contracts with Tuath and will handover the first 20 homes at the beginning of August with the remaining 40 to be delivered on a phased basis throughout 2020. These high quality, A rated homes will be allocated to tenants from Meath County Council’s housing list.

The second visit of the day took place at “Mainear Caisleán Dubh”, Slane Road, a recently completed, stand-alone development comprising of 26 new build homes. This project was constructed by Modern Homes Ireland Limited (MHI). Uniquely 90% of the build of these homes was completed off site in a factory in Ballyjamesduff, Cavan before being transported to and finished on-site facilitating the delivery of all homes in an efficient time-effective manner.

All 26 homes within this development have now been occupied by tenants from the Council’s Housing list. Tuath worked closely with MHI and Meath CoCo to ensure a number of properties were adapted to cater for the needs of some older people and people with disabilities.

Minister Damien English said he is delighted to see 86 much-needed homes across both schemes being allocated to families and will be a much-welcomed addition to the housing stock in the county.  “These projects have been delivered by Tuath Housing, working in partnership with Meath County Council using an innovative combination of capital funding provided by my Department via Meath County Council under the CALF and CAS schemes in conjunction with private finance from the Housing Finance Agency (HFA).  These fantastic developments are just two of a number of projects that Túath Housing are undertaking in partnership with Local Authorities around the country to provide new social housing units.

Projects such as these reflects the Government’s commitment to providing homes for families in their area of choice and we will continue to work with local authorities and approved housing bodies such as Tuath to continue delivering much needed homes across the country”
